Review and restore a doc version

Preview a doc version, compare it with the current text, and restore an available snapshot.

Docs

Use doc history to review earlier text or return to a saved version. You can compare a version with the current doc before restoring it.

Before you start

You need access to view the doc to read its history. Saving a version or restoring one requires Full access on the doc or the active doc tab.

Save and review a version

  1. Open the doc or tab you want to review.
  2. Select History in the header.
  3. Select Save version if you want to keep the current content as a restorable version.
  4. Select a version in the list to open Preview.
  5. Select Changes vs. current to compare its text with the current doc.

Restore a version

  1. In History, find the version you want to restore.
  2. Hover over its row to reveal Restore this version.
  3. Select Restore this version to apply it.

Good to know

Not every history entry has a restorable snapshot. Restore this version appears only for an available snapshot when you have Full access. The restore also saves the content it replaces in history.
