Make a reel

Arrange text and shapes over time, preview the reel, and export a video recording.

Whiteboards, presentations and reels

A reel combines a canvas with a timeline that controls when its content appears. Use it to make a video from text, shapes, and audio.

Before you start

You need the workspace member, admin, or owner role to create this item. To create it inside a folder, open the folder and use its New resource button; you need Can edit or Full access on that folder. To edit an existing item, you need Can edit or Full access on it. Saving a video export also creates a recording, so you need the workspace member, admin, or owner role and edit access to the reel.

Create the reel

  1. In the sidebar, select New resource, the plus beside Workspace.
  2. Choose Work, then Reels. Zanbase creates an untitled reel and opens it.
  3. Select the title and type the reel’s name.

Choose the frame

  1. Open View settings.
  2. Open Composition.
  3. Choose Frame size.
  4. Choose Frame rate.

Add content

  1. Select Text in the toolbar.
  2. Click the canvas to place the Text element.
  3. Type your words in the Text editor.
  4. Select Rectangle.
  5. Drag on the canvas to draw the Rectangle.

Each text or shape element gets a clip in the timeline. Drag a clip’s body to change its start time, or drag an edge to trim its time window. To add a soundtrack, select Audio clip above the timeline and choose an audio file.

Preview and export

  1. Select Skip to start.
  2. Select Play to preview the reel.
  3. Select Pause when you finish reviewing it.
  4. Open Export options.
  5. Select Export video (mp4).

What happens next

A successful video export is saved as a recording under the reel. Wait for Exported before treating it as saved. If saving fails, the app reports Could not save the export.

Export options also offers Export audio (mp3) and Export current frame (png), which download files. Audio-only export requires audio in the reel and an available MP3 encoder.
