Build a form

Add form fields, publish a response link, and choose what respondents see after submitting.

Tables and forms

A form collects answers as response rows. Use it when people need to send you information through a link.

Before you start

You need the workspace member, admin, or owner role to create this item. To create it inside a folder, open the folder and use its New resource button; you need Can edit or Full access on that folder. You need Can edit or Full access on the form to change its fields and settings. Publishing its link requires Full access.

Create the form

  1. In the sidebar, select New resource, the plus beside Workspace.
  2. Choose Work, then Forms. Zanbase creates an untitled form and opens it.
  3. Select the title and type the form’s name.

Add and name a field

  1. Select New field to add a text field.
  2. Select the Text field on the form to open its editor.
  3. Enter the question in Name on the Field tab.
  4. Select Save.

To choose another field type when adding a field, open Form actions beside New field and choose a type under New field.

Require an answer

  1. Select the field you want to require to open Edit field.
  2. Select the Form tab in the field editor.
  3. Turn on Required.

The Form tab also offers Placeholder, Help text, Width, and Visibility. These form settings save as you change them. Visibility can show a question only when other answers match; hidden questions do not contribute answers to the submission.

Choose the response message

  1. Open Form actions.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Enter a Thank-you message.
  4. Optionally enter a Redirect URL to send respondents to a page after submission instead of showing the message.
  5. Select Save.

Share the form

  1. Select the form’s name in the header to open its actions menu.
  2. Select Share.
  3. Open the role control on the Anyone with the link row.
  4. Choose Anyone with the link.
  5. Select Copy link to copy the response link.

What happens next

Anyone with the published link can submit, including people who are not signed in. Submitted answers appear on Responses, a read-only view. Reading responses requires Can see responses, Can edit, or Full access on the form; the public response link does not grant that access.

To work with the answers as table records, see Turn a form into a table.
